Social media and wine in France – Survey results

1276812212 chart Social media and wine in France   Survey results In May 2010, mySocialWinery conducted an online survey to evaluate French wineries understanding of social media and their needs for online marketing strategies.

Our survey received more than 500 responses. Here are some key results:

  • 95% of French wineries export their wines
  • 37% of French wineries do not have a website translated in English
  • 87% of French wineries do not have a blog
  • 59% of French wineries do not have a Facebook page
  • 91% of French wineries do not have a Twitter account
  • 75% of French wineries do not publish information on social networks
  • 44% of French wineries are planning to integrate social media in their marketing strategy

      Cool report, Pierrick. You should include your methodology though. Maybe I just can’t find it. Was the survey online? Did you approach wineries or did they volunteer? Was it self-reported, or did you walk them through the survey? etc. Keep it up.

      Thanks Ryan. The survey was hosted online, I approached about 8,000 wineries by email. 7% of them completed the survey.

      The results will be very biased towards wineries keen on internet communication if only 7 % answered,

      Also its only from wineries using email,
      certainly in the Midi and Southwest there are quite a lot of wineries without email contact.
